Hummus is a Levantine dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas or other beans, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. It is popular in theMiddle East and Mediterranean, as well as inMiddle Eastern cuisine around the globe. It can also be found in most grocery stores inNorth America and Europe.
Soak the chickpeas overnight.
Drain the chickpeas and rinse them with water.
Simmer the chickpeas until soft.
Put the chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lime juice and salt in a bowl and blend with an immersion blender. Add water as necessary to get the desired consistency.
